ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) radar integration, specifically radar overlay, combines real-time radar echoes directly onto electronic navigational charts (ENC). This enhances situational awareness, allowing navigators to verify ship position, identify land masses, and detect traffic, with the ENC remaining priority.

(Radio Detection and Ranging) is an electromagnetic system used to detect, locate, track, and identify objects like aircraft, ships, spacecraft, and vehicles. It works by emitting radio waves that reflect off targets, measuring the time taken for the echo to return to determine distance, speed, and direction.
